Which is more durable outside, lacquer (such as Garco Sealer) or polyurethane (such as Minwax Clear Shield)?

assuming that yellowing from the sun is no factor at all; only resistance to cracking, peeling, chalking, etc. for protecting the wood surfaceWhich is more durable outside, lacquer (such as Garco Sealer) or polyurethane (such as Minwax Clear Shield)?
Do not use polyurethane. It isn't meant for use outside where it's exposed to UV. It will deteriorate and worse the color of the wood under it will deteriorate. Spar varnish is best. It gives a good clear, non yellowing, non deteriorating coating for out side surfaces. It's the best coating for a wood door or the like. I did my solid wood, west facing, Kitchen door with spar varnish in '86 and it still looks great today. You can purchase Spar Varnish at any paint store, home center or hardware store.

EDITED: I tried Marine Spar Polyurethane on my front door three years ago. It's in terrible shape and Im preparing to take it down and redo it. Spar Varnish is far superior.Which is more durable outside, lacquer (such as Garco Sealer) or polyurethane (such as Minwax Clear Shield)?
You can use products like Minwax Clear Shield or Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane. These products are good for exterior use and will be resistant to sun, moisture, etc. You will however have to repeat the process every 2 or 3 years based on what type of conditions the surface will be exposed to. Clear Shield and Helmsman are actually the same product as I recently found out from a Minwax rep. I have experience selling both products in my store. I do not have any experience or knowledge of an exterior lacquer clear coat.
Look for a ';MARINE SPAR POLYURETHANE';

Commonly used on wood items on boats.
