I need something that will add a little shine and protection to a painted vanity.Can clear oil based polyurethane be used on latex semi-gloss?
Oil based poly works fine over latex. It will slightly change the color, though. It will be a bit more yellowish than when you started. If that bothers you you can use a a water based finish like Minwax Polycrilic, which is crystal clear. The polycrilic holds up pretty well, but for really rough/wet use I would do the oil finish.
